One of my favorite things about living in L.A. is how easy it is to pick a random afternoon and go to any of the dozens of beaches that are only a short drive away. I’ve always found being near the ocean to be incredibly therapeutic, so even in autumn I find myself wanting to spend a day on the shoreline, listening to the sound of the waves and enjoying the sand in between my toes.

This past time, I decided to explore somewhere new- Zuma beach- and I was fortunate enough to have my mom and brother join me. It’s located just inside of Malibu and is definitely a more secluded, quiet beach compared to the busy tourist action you’d find at Santa Monica. It was perfect for a cozy afternoon beach walk! It was way too chilly for my mom and I to swim, but my brother thought otherwise and even jumped in the waves for a bit. For lunch we stopped at the Malibu Seafood Fresh Fish Market and Patio Cafe and dined on the freshest fish and chips you could imagine!

Usually people only associate going to the beach with summer, but I think there’s something equally as special about throwing on a cardigan and some warm weather clothes and walking along the sand in autumn too. Living so close to the coast is something that I want to take advantage of all year ’round, which means beach walks for every season!
