Monday Musings

Monday Musings

Today’s post will be a bit different than usual, as instead of having anything proper planned, I thought I would just sit and type out some of my recent doings and random thoughts on life at the moment.

It’s been quite a busy week for my family and I, as we just returned from a week long trip to Kentucky to visit my grandpa who is in a nursing home there in Louisville. It was great being able to see him and take him out into the countryside where he could get some fresh air. Some days were harder than others because the tolls of old age were more prominent then, but he still had us laughing (on purpose or not) and it was a much needed visit for everyone I think.

I also got to discover that there is in fact more to Kentucky than country roads and fried chicken, when one of my cousins took us out to explore downtown. If I’m being honest, I didn’t even realize Louisville had a downtown, as in all my years visiting I’d only ever been to see family and we’d never strayed far. So it was a pleasant treat getting the chance to go out and experience more of what the state has to offer. I’d really love to come back and tour the Louisville Slugger Museum and experience Derby week.

Now that I’m back home in Arizona I’m full of many mixed emotions. Sad for leaving family, happy to be back somewhere familiar, and equally excited + terrified to move back to LA to start my senior year of college in just six days. I cannot believe that the time passed by so quickly! And to top it off this year my little brother starts college! That probably makes me the most sad, thinking about him all grown up. It seems like just yesterday I started my first day at USC and to think my brother is just starting himself while I’m nearing my last day is very bittersweet.

Prepping to go back has kept me quite busy today; I completed loans, did some laundry, and unpacked my Kentucky suitcase so I can start packing my LA one. I also spent some time editing videos and images and planning some upcoming blog posts. I want to make sure I can stay consistent even with my busy school schedule (something I’m generally bad at doing) so I decided to plan ahead so I’d be well prepared. In general, I love taking time to sit and organize myself so that I feel ready to take on all my tasks! Once I have my to-do list written with all the tasks prioritized it seems so much easier to accomplish them!

The rest of this week aims to be just as busy, with lots of appointments and last minute preparations for school. But since it’s the last true week of summer, I think we’ll make sure it’s filled with lots of simple, quality family time too.

Glad you had a great visit with your grandpa and cousins. The museum is good, does Matt still have his bat? I liked Churchill downs. To be at the Kentucky Derby would be awesome. “To do lists” are a must if you want to get a lot of things done especially if you don’t have a lot of time. Hard to believe it is your last year. Wow! make it a really great year. Love Gramma
