If you’re a member of Sephora’s Beauty Insider club, then you’ll know that each year they give you a free gift for your birthday that you can collect anytime that month. They typically offer deluxe sample sizes of some luxury brand items, which is great because some of these I might not otherwise have tried.
This year they gifted each member two items from Marc Jacobs: the Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner and the Le Marc Lip Creme. I haven’t had them long enough for a proper review, however my first impression of both have been excellent. The eyeliner has a very smooth consistency and a deep black color payoff that I find is sometimes hard to get with crayon liners. The small tip means you can choose to have a more precise line if you wish, or you can smudge it out for a smoky effect.
The lipstick comes in the color Baked Rose which is a gorgeous mauve pink color that would suit all skin tones. The formula is incredibly creamy and soft, and lasts quite a while without drying out your lips. The full sized lipstick is $30, so I would have to be in the mood to splurge if I was ever going to buy it, but at least I know now that I’m going to like the product.
Overall I rate this year’s gift 4 out of 5, only because the samples were a bit smaller than the Nars lip creams from last year. But for a free gift on your birthday, I’m not going to complain :).
Make sure you stop into Sephora during your birthday month and ask at the counter for your free gift! And if you’ve already gotten yours, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments :).
