After many years of longing after arguably the most coveted possessions of every beauty lover, I finally own all three Urban Decay Naked palettes thanks to a gift from my wonderfully generous boyfriend! I was SO incredibly excited when I got them and have been anxiously waiting to use them until I took pictures and could share them on here.
They’ve been around long enough that I think they can vouch for their own quality and worth, so I thought I would just offer my personal first impressions of them instead.
The original Naked palette is probably my favorite in terms of the variety of shades. It has an assortment of beautiful nudes, most of them shimmery, and a few mattes that I feel are great as a base color or to use in the crease. My only slight issue with it is the packaging. I have a weird thing about the feeling of velvet but other than that it’s lovely.
Naked 2 I enjoy because it has a few more lighter neutral colors and still includes the beautiful gold shimmery shade ‘Half Baked’. I also love the shade ‘YDK’ which is a pretty darker pink shimmer. I also find this one to have the best packaging overall as it’s very secure and not easily dirtied because of the sheen metal.
The Naked 3 palette consists mostly of pinky, coral shades, which are beautiful but have slightly less variety for creating different looks. However, I feel that the colors are perfect for springtime and soft, romantic eye looks. I do have a little trouble opening this palette though, as it gets stuck so I have to pull a bit harder. But that could just be my palette, I’m not sure any one else has that problem.
I am still missing the Naked smoky palette, but truthfully I’m not quite great at smoky eyes anyway with dark colors so I’m okay without that one for now. All three palettes that I do have though have essentially every shade of matte and shimmer you could ever want. Not to mention they come with long handled, dual-ended brush that makes the application go incredibly smoothly. Not all my makeup brushes can pack on shimmery shades strongly, so I love that each palette includes its own brush that works entirely for that purpose.
I feel like I’ve popped my makeup cherry by finally owning these beauties. I’m so excited that I have these in my collection now!
