I have been to San Francisco only once before this trip, and I easily fell in love with the uniqueness of the city and yearned to go back again. So when USC made it into the PAC 12 Championship this weekend, my friends and I made a spur-of-the-moment decision to drive up north to detox from school stress and explore the bay a little more.
The game was held at Levi Stadium so we chose to stay at the Plaza Suites, less than 2 miles away, as opposed to staying in the heart of San Francisco. The boutique-style hotel was incredibly luxurious for the price: it offered spacious rooms and the feel of a 5-star hotel while still being affordable to us college students. And the cost included a delicious complimentary breakfast which was an added bonus. If you ever need a place to stay in Santa Clara, or are looking to visit San Francisco without paying a steep price, this is definitely where I would recommend.
On Day One we of course had to do the tourist-y thing and see the Golden Gate bridge. My last time in the city I only got a blurry glimpse of it through thick clouds of fog from afar, so I was excited this time around that it was a clear morning and we had a much better vantage point.
I also decided this would be the perfect opportunity to wear my new Love Tree trench coat because it tends to be much cooler and a lot windier in the bay area than it is in L.A. I love the army-green color because I think it matches with everything so easily. And because it’s so light-weight yet warm it’s especially perfect for this time of year in California.
Though our time in the city was short it was definitely worth it, if only for the amazing fish and chips we ate for lunch ;). I would have enjoyed spending more time at Pier 39 (as it was my favorite place last time I went!) but San Francisco is only a short drive away so I’ll just look forward to it for next time.
See what I was up to on Day Two in the Bay later this week :).
