I am SO incredibly excited to announce that I have been accepted to study abroad at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia next semester! Eek!
I applied to go abroad early in September and have been since anxiously anticipating a response, which I finally received just last week. It was a hard waiting process but I am extremely excited now that it is official!
The semesters in Australia line up a bit differently than they do here in the U.S. so I actually won’t begin school until the end of February and then I’ll return mid-June. It will also be entering winter over there, although from what I’ve researched the winters there are mild like they are her in L.A. so the temperatures will still be in a perfect 60-70 degree range.
If you’ve never heard of University of Queensland, it’s actually one of the top 100 universities in the world which makes this an incredible educational opportunity. One of the classes I’m most looking forward to is a Marine studies field-trip course where I’ll get to travel to one of UQ’s research centers on Heron Island and work with marine life in the Great Barrier Reef, which is something that has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember!
I have a lot of work to do between now and then to prepare for being abroad for so long but I’m having so much fun learning about Australia that the more I research, the more anxious I get to go!
If you’ve ever been to Queensland or Australia in general I would love some insider tips on travel and transportation and anything else really!
