KOCO by Beauty Brands

KOCO by Beauty Brands

As much as I love my high-end makeup products, my bank account on the other hand much prefers that I choose cheaper alternatives. So I’ve been testing a lot of drugstore makeup recently to try and find less expensive dupes of my favorite products, and I wanted to share a brand I was particularly impressed with.

I usually go into Beauty Brands only looking for hair products, as that used to be their primary focus, however over the past year or so they have started getting in a larger variety of products and even added in several shelves of various makeup brands such as Too Faced, Stila, and Smashbox. Then last spring they launched their very own line of makeup: KOCO, and with everything being so inexpensive I couldn’t resist picking up a few things and giving them a try.

Lipstick wise they have a pretty large assortment of all different shades from nudes to bright reds and purples (like I picked up). They come in both cream and matte, however all the lipsticks I picked up were cream. As far as pigmentation goes I’m really impressed with how rich each color is. What you see is exactly what you’re going to get! (You can see me wearing the bright red shade in the New Years Eve photos on this blog post) They also go on really smooth and don’t feel too drying on your lips which is nice. I will say that they’re not the most long lasting lipsticks, I usually reapply them once or twice if I still want that bright pop of color, but for the price I think you can’t beat it. They sell for $8.00 a piece, however, there hasn’t been a single time I’ve walked in the store the past two months where they didn’t have a sale going on that made them even cheaper. I think the first time I went in it was 3 for $10 and currently they’re on sale buy one get one free. And you’re allowed to mix and match any of the items in their collection for the sale prices which makes it even better!

The nail polishes were the second thing I tried from KOCO and I cannot say enough how happy I am that I did! When I was in the store deciding on what shade I wanted, I painted three of my nails with the samples of the colors I ended up buying so I could test them out. And that crappy, rushed paint job in the middle of beauty brands literally didn’t come off for an entire week. That was without topcoat or anything. Not only that but the colors were incredibly pigmented as well! The white wasn’t too clear or see through, even just one coat was a thick enough layer to achieve the color I was looking for. I’ve since painted my nails with all of them and am really impressed with how long the color really does last. For $7.00 a bottle it’s still cheaper than Essie or OPI and with the constant sales it makes them even more affordable (which makes my bank account quite happy). 🙂

Overall I will definitely be buying more of their products in the future. They also have eye shadows, blush, and mascara which I have yet to try but after my experiences with the lipsticks and nail polish I’m definitely willing to give them a shot! The quality is nice, the colors are rich, and the prices are essentially unbeatable. If you’re looking for a cheaper makeup alternative, I definitely recommend checking these out!
